FUSIO2N (Fusion) SS from Rex Materials is specially formulated for thimbles that are used in Wagstaff billet casting machines. FUSIO2N (Fusion) SS is an extremely fine grained, sintered composition of high purity fused silica that provides both outstanding wear properties and excellent thermal shock resistance. Special non-wetting properties, plus factory coating  with boron nitride, prevent metal sticking and attack by aluminum and other molten metals. FUSIO2N (Fusion) SS has passed all the major aluminum resistance tests specified by the leading Aluminum Producers.

The lower thermal mass and conductivity minimize the chance of freeze ups during the start up or at low metal flow rates. Our special FUSIO2N (Fusion) SS process allows us to offer this outstanding performance at a very reasonable price. Our process has been designed so that the inside metal contact surface of our thimbles have virtually no porosity.
